The Big Picture

Do not oppress the widow or the fatherless,

The alien or the poor.

Let none of you plan evil in his heart

Against his brother.

This is what 7:10 Foundation was formed around.  Zechariah 7:10.  Many of you have heard the story before, but It is on my heart to re cap.

On Christmas day in 2012, a team of 8 people from north central Minnesota departed from Minneapolis on a journey to Haiti for a missions trip.  This team, along with many others, worked very hard to raise the $10,000.00 needed to go on this trip.  We took this trip through an organization that we have come to love and respect, Children’s Lifeline.  While there we visited orphanages and helped at a couple of feeding centers.  We visited a museum in Port-Au-Prince and learned the history of Haiti.  On Tuesday morning, the team was ready to leave at 8:00 am to visit another orphanage.  We were not yet used to “Haiti time” and the team was getting anxious to leave, the clock said 8:15, then 8:30…   JoEllen Smith, the missionary living at the compound at the time was headed up to the ware house, it was widows day.  As long as we were not leaving she wanted to participate in the praise and worship that morning.  Pam and I decided to tag along, better than sitting on a hot bus.

This was a major turning point for me in my love for Haiti.  It was Christmastime.  The question was asked of the widows, “What are you thankful for today?”

This question asked here, in America, might be answered with crickets chirping; instead what was heard was over 20 women all speaking their praises at once.  All I could do was cry.  These women were telling their stories, stories of faith and hope.

Some of these women were sick, some were homeless, some were starving.  Yet all had praises to their Lord and Savior.

Fast forward >>>>>>>>>>>

7:10 Foundation is established, with the focus on widows and orphans.  3 trips to Haiti, and a vision has emerged.  What we here at 7:10 have dubbed the “Widowage”

An orphanage is a home for orphans, the widowage would be the same only for widows.

Here is a rundown of what we know and what we hope to make a reality.  We would like to work alongside Lifeline to purchase a property that Osmy, a director of Lifeline has found, for $10,000.00.  According to Osmy, this property could be the home of 20 homes.  7:10 would like to be able to raise the money to build these homes for the use of widows that are in need.  In the big picture we see a gated community with homes for widows in need.  We see this community being self sustaining by growing gardens, having chickens, and using aquaponics.  We see a community kitchen that would be available for all of the families in the community to use, to help limit the needs of charcoal.

How do we make this vision a reality?  We do this with the help of people like you.  What can you do?

Matthew 18:19,20

Again I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.”

We are also available to come and do a presentation for your Church or group.  We would love to have some committed monthly supporters.

It is because of people like you that when we have this property purchased we can finally build the home that you helped provide the funding for.  The home for Madam Datilus.  You did this.  You did this with your prayers, and your finances.

Home Again

There is so many stories to tell, so many things to reflect on, and I promise I will get to all of these eventually…. Today I want to tell you all about the home for Daniel’s family.  The Lord provided in such record time to raise the amount needed to build his home, we knew it was meant to be.  We were blessed to meet with Daniels Mother and Father, and pray with them while we were there.

When I think about all that happened in the 5 days before we left, I am reminded of scripture in Matthew.

Matthew 25:31-46

The Son of Man Will Judge the Nations

31 “When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy[a] angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory. 32 All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats. 33 And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left. 34 Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: 35 for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; 36 I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.’

37 “Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and giveYou drink? 38 When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? 39 Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ 40 And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’

41 “Then He will also say to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels: 42 for I was hungry and you gave Me no food; I was thirsty and you gave Me no drink; 43 I was a stranger and you did not take Me in, naked and you did not clothe Me, sick and in prison and you did not visit Me.’

44 “Then they also will answer Him,[b] saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to You?’ 45 Then He will answer them, saying, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.’ 46 And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”

So many faithful people came together to help with the home, Thank you to everyone for your prayers and support.

Meeting with Daniels Mom for the first time.

Seeing Daniel again at Lifelines orphanage.

               Osmy was ready to get work going while we were in Haiti.  On Sunday he had rock delivered, on Monday they were staking the construction, and the foundation was dug before we left.  The building should be complete in less than a months time.  Here are some photos we took on Wednesday before we left.

The upper left photo is what we believe will be the outdoor “squatty potty”, but have not had that confirmed yet.  The upper right hand corner you can see the two rooms and the porch, with the current home in the back ground.  This structure will stay in place, since there are so many people (sometimes up to 22 people) that are part of this family.  Bottom left shows the front porch and one room, and the bottom right is from a different angle.

Robenson has promised that he will keep us updated with photos as progress is made…

More stories and photos to come, thank you to all once again…..

Madam Dautilus

We were able to meet with Madam Dautilus this morning.  Please be praying for her and her 5 Children.  They are hungry, and in need of medical attention.  I hope to find out more before my next trip here, to help with the needs of this family.

Madam is washing clothes for others to try and make some money to feed her children, but it only amounts to about a dollar a day.  Of her 5 Children, 2 are crippled and can not walk.

I will update more when we get home, but please keep her in your prayers today.

We are going up to RHFH today, waiting for the truck to get back from Port-Au-Prince.  Someone came down from the mountain that was VERY sick today, and needed immediate attention at the hospital in Port.

Love to all…  And kisses to Elaina from momma and Emily….  🙂  (and of course all of the rest of the kids, but Emmy doesn’t necessarily want to kiss Cameron)

We Made It!

I tell you what, Satan was at EVERY SINGLE TURN yesterday.  He was adamantly against us getting to Haiti… but, we kicked him down and all of us from both teams are here, safe, and healthy.  Your prayers helped us and today we can send up our many Praises.

It was so nice to leave all the snow and mess in the Twin Cities behind, I am counting on you to have it all melted by the time we get home.

Today Jeremiah, Becky, and the girls are working on the wall at the orphanage, and I tell you what these girls have some MUSCLE!!  They are keeping up with the Haitian workers carrying rock.

Some things have changed since we were here last, and there is not any wi fi access any longer, and facebook is “blocked” due to some people not being very conscientious of the internet restrictions and doing to much uploading….  So please do not be alarmed if we are not posting or communicating through facebook.  I may not be able to keep up with blog updates either, families, just know that no news is good news, and we will talk to you from Miami when we get in on Thursday for sure.  Here is cyber hugs to all of our family members, and cyber kisses too.  We love you all.

Peace, love, and grace to you all…

Praise Be to God

On Sunday we had a commissioning service at church.  The Pastor gave a powerful sermon, and then he prayed over everyone on the team that is going to Haiti.  The Elders and Deacons were all with us to lay hands on us while Pastor prayed.

During the service we had some very exciting news to share with the congregation.  Everyone had been praying for us to raise the money needed to repair Daniel’s home in Haiti, and the Friday before the service we had reached our goal!  We were so excited and singing praises to our wonderful Lord.  Monday, we were on our way to the post office to mail the check to Lifeline.  I emailed lifeline to let them know it was on the way, and that I would send a tracking number as soon as I had the receipt from the post office.

Satan has made it very apparent that he does NOT want us going and doing any type of work for the Lord.  He has thrown us several curve balls.  The email I received from Lifeline next was telling us that Daniels house was not repairable, and would need to be replaced, doubling the amount needed.

I know that this was meant to make us feel defeated.  Instead, I was excited!  Daniel and his family are going to get a BRAND NEW home….. we just needed to figure out how to raise the rest of the money.  Right away we commissioned friends and family to start praying for the additional funds needed.  With in 2 hours we had a commitment of $320 dollars come in.  Amen.  We continued to pray, and wouldn’t you know it, that by 11 pm last night we met our new goal?

Psalm 27

1 The Lord is my light and my salvation;
Whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the strength of my life;
Of whom shall I be afraid?
2 When the wicked came against me
To eat up my flesh,
My enemies and foes,
They stumbled and fell.
3 Though an army may encamp against me,
My heart shall not fear;
Though war may rise against me,
In this I will be confident.

4 One thing I have desired of the Lord,
That will I seek:
That I may dwell in the house of the Lord
All the days of my life,
To behold the beauty of the Lord,
And to inquire in His temple.
5 For in the time of trouble
He shall hide me in His pavilion;
In the secret place of His tabernacle
He shall hide me;
He shall set me high upon a rock.

6 And now my head shall be lifted up above my enemies all around me;
Therefore I will offer sacrifices of joy in His tabernacle;
I will sing, yes, I will sing praises to the Lord.

7 Hear, O Lord, when I cry with my voice!
Have mercy also upon me, and answer me.
When You said, “Seek My face,”
My heart said to You, “Your face, Lord, I will seek.”
9 Do not hide Your face from me;
Do not turn Your servant away in anger;
You have been my help;
Do not leave me nor forsake me,
O God of my salvation.
10 When my father and my mother forsake me,
Then the Lord will take care of me.

11 Teach me Your way, O Lord,
And lead me in a smooth path, because of my enemies.
12 Do not deliver me to the will of my adversaries;
For false witnesses have risen against me,
And such as breathe out violence.
13 I would have lost heart, unless I had believed
That I would see the goodness of the Lord
In the land of the living.

14 Wait on the Lord;
Be of good courage,
And He shall strengthen your heart;
Wait, I say, on the Lord!

Thank you God for all that you provide.  Thank you followers of the Lord that pray for the needs of others.  Thank you to those that are able and feel led to help out financially with these needs.  Once again we are humbled by you.

We have seen how you answer prayers, so please Lord, let it be your will that we will be able to secure land for a home for Madam Dautilus.

Blessings to you all!
